Forest School Birthday Parties

Our maximum is 15 partygoers in the group.  Younger siblings are welcome to attend, but are usually not counted in the 15 unless they are taking an active part in the party.  They would then need to be counted as one of the 15.

This is ok if your number is less than 15.  The price is fixed whether the full 15 attend or not. 

Our Forest School birthday parties run for 2 hours.

Main guest families can arrive up to 30 mins before. 

We recommend that partygoers arrive 10 mins before the start so we can get our safety briefing done promptly.

Yes.  We recommend that you bring a cake that is suitable for your partygoers. 

We are able to provide a log presentation point and lighting (matches / lighter) to light the cake.  

Please bring a knife to slice the cake.

Typically, no.  We find that children are highly engaged in a Forest School setting and might not want to stop for a meal.  If you do bring food, we suggest keeping it light and cold as we don’t have heating facilities on site.

We do toast a marshmallow as part of the party and offer a few food related add ons if desired. 

Cold or hot drinks are also available throughout for all partygoers. 

Please give us plenty of notice if you or one of your party guests have dietary requirements.  We are usually able to cover most dietary needs with marshmallows.  Some of our other food is a bit trickier, but we will do our best to cater depending on the needs and add ons chosen. 

We are coeliac friendly (Matt has coeliac disease) and most of our food is GF as standard.  If we need to provide non GF food, such as bread, we will ensure there are separate facilities to cover this.

However, we are not able to fully cover every eventuality.  Please speak to us and we will do our best to help.

If you give 3o days or more notice we can offer a full refund. 

Cancel with 15-30 days notice and a 50% refund is given.

Cancel with 14 days or less notice, then the full fee is kept for all paid services.

Forest School typically goes ahead expect for a few weather conditions.

Thunder storms and high winds (typically above 40 mph) or where weather conditions are beyond safe management.  

Rain, mud and getting dirty are part of the Forest School experience and it’s heaps of fun too!

In the event of bad weather or other wild factors, it will be at the sole discretion of Among The Trees as to whether an event is cancelled.   An alternative date will be offered, if available or a full refund if no suitable date can be found.

Great question!

A simple answer is a set of waterproofs or a puddle suit and wellies / boots.

However, a lot of this is dependent on the time of year. 

Long trousers and a long sleeved shirt would be a great base.  Summer can be hot and if you want to wear shorts, we recommend sturdy and long shorts.  Please avoid clothing such as short shorts and crop tops or singlets.  These don’t provide adequate coverage and safety for partygoers. 

We are in a natural environment where there are wild things growing.  Some of these can scratch or poke and we want to avoid injury as much as possible. 

A waterproof top or puddle suit are also a good shout due to the unpredictable nature of the British weather.

Wellies or boots are preferred, both for protection and water / mud.  Open toed shoes or trainers with mesh uppers easily get wet or muddy so we try and avoid them. 

Yes, the can.  

While not compulsory, parents are welcome to stay, support their child or have a chat.  Tea and coffee are available throughout and if you’d like to add on something like a bacon butty, we are able to accommodate this.

Matt is the owner and operator of Among The Trees.  He is a Level 3 Qualified Forest School Practitioner and qualified Primary School teacher.  He is also on the Update Service with an Enhanced DBS and has Forest School First aid training.  A first aid kit is on site for all events. 

Yes we do.  We have public liability insurance from Birnbeck, a specialist Forest School insurer, covering us across the UK.

We have limited on site parking at the school.  A car park will be reserved for the host family.  

We have access to the school toilets for the duration of the booking.  Please note that the school is not accessible apart from the toilets during the session.  Please show respect for the venue by not venturing beyond the toilet area.

Hand washing sinks are available.  In the event of the taps not working, an alternative hand washing station will be made available. 

Full payment is required to secure your birthday party.  Payment can be made, preferably, by bank transfer or alternatively, cash.  Bookings will only be confirmed upon receipt of full payment.  

Refunds are to be given in line with our booking terms and conditions (available here) and under the following circumstances:

We have a strict no smoking or vaping policy during our sessions, including birthday parties.  This sets a good example for the children and also respects the school space where smoking is not permitted. 

You are welcome to bring non-alcoholic and soft drinks on site, but please refrain from bringing any alcoholic beverages to the event. 

We provide tea, coffee, water and squash/cordial for everyone.
